I have been in California many times but until my last trip I had not had the occasion to go to the area around the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. I was very happy I did go this way. I made a stop in Borrego Springs. Borrego springs is a little city of a little more than 3,000 inhabitants. I stopped for the night in the most beautiful inn and enjoyed my time in the desert.
Dennis Avery (from the Avery family whose ancestor invented the sticker) is a land owner in the city and as an art amateur he envisioned the idea of adding 'free standing art' to his property with original steel welded sculptures created by artist Ricardo Breceda. There are 129 metal sculptures located in Borrego Springs. Some can be seen from the road. For others you might have to drive a bit off road.
